blog blog blog.. i will not neglect you!D:

i didn't have time to blog about band outing :X okay so here goes :D
1May2010, sat.
it was AWESOME!:D thank you everyone who went for the outing and for being active in the games although some were really embarrassing HAHA:X but it was fun anyway:D

got to botanical gardens at 10.30am from tampines with ziyan(: took the circle line to douby ghaut from payalebar for fun:P i think the circle line portion of the station at payalebar's really out of place HAHA. it's like super different .__. and esplanade station is just coolness(: okay so we met zongxian jiajie tzehan sarah guanteng and ros at botanical gardens and started setting up our stations there. our $5 tree was cordoned off because of the set up for the andrea bocelli concert =.= damn. so we settled for another tree. then hid the istana clues at the sundial too. HAHA epic. shan't upload that photo:X in case i get sued or something. i think having a station at istana is damn cool. gosh la it was only open on that day:D:D labour day. lol!:D after we were done with everything we went to the bandstand to blow balloons. we were playing around blowing balloons in different ways LOL.xD it was quite amusing.. PHOTOS!:D

shan't upload too many haha they're on facebook anyway thanks ros for uploading(:

then the rest of the band came!:D played the stepping balloons game while the station masters sneaked away LOL. yep. ok the tree station was super impromptu gosh we took the photo with my phone in the morning and apparently the groups had to take the photo with my phone too so there was no reference while they were taking =.= sheesh haha. i had to be lenient then(: after that me and ziyan went over to vivo. xD got oreo chocolate bubble tea:D and some oldchangkee food. went upstairs to the shallow pool area. stupid pool bed(?) was super rocky. ok not rocky.. stony? HAHA. sheesh. damn pain =.= my soles were all red after walking over and back again many times to 'hide' the clues. lol. but it was fun anw:D

bought mats at vivo after everything was over.. but before that we kinda camwhored on the way to daiso.xD HAHA. in front of some um.. something that was producing air. HAHA. ok i have no idea what it was o.O jiajie was helping us take a photo. but he ended up taking a video.xD LOL it's on facebook. super epic.xD

then we headed over to west coast park when almost everyone was there already.=.= haha.. we were super tired! took a bus and missed the stop =.= had to walk to the nearest stop that had the bus to wcp. lol sheesh. when we were nearing wcp (which had many bus stops) we kept pressing the bell for the wrong stops :X 3 times i think HAHA:X whoops. then some old man beside me was like damn pissed with us:X lolol.

west coast park!gosh the best part of the day!(: immediately went to the spiderweb after putting my bag down at the mats. LOL. lionel hongguang and rick were playing soccer with some german small kids and the kids' family was there watching/picnicking.xD haha!so random.o.O hm the spiderweb was damn shuang. although my foot soles were sore already from the vivo pool =.= haha. lay down on the net at the middle section of the web facing the sky:D:D gosh. super relaxing!:X haven't felt like this for quite long. haha.. it's good to feel like that again.(: my mind was clear.. not thinking about anything or worrying about anything. ah.=l an escape from reality huh.. :/ oh wells. anw! we climbed to the top and stayed there till it was dark. and camwhored alot :D:D haha! band photo, j1 and j2 batch photos!:D thanks walter for helping us take the band photo. haha:X photos:D:D

went to fly kite afterwards with guanteng sweechen lorraine and lionel. we failed many times D: but oh wells. at least we tried:D haha.xD nvr flown a kite before .__. deprived childhood huh.xD and um.. nvr going marina barrage..=l sigh.

flying fox! haha there was this kid there ordering people to go on the flying fox. LOL. "i choose you!" .__. she was quite fierce lor.xD haha. and she only chooses girls to go on the flying fox and not guys. o.O funny kid. lolol. was wondering where her parents were.xD

there she is. LOL.xD

went home really late. glad that me and ziyan didn't miss our buses home!:D:D haha.

hmm.. let me blog about class outing ba..
3May2010, mon, sch holiday in lieu of labour day.
went early in the morning. watched ipman2(: me louisa shiing kaeyuan jireh. it was damn exciting please. there were many moments when i was really scared for him .__. seriously.xD awesome show(: mwahaha western boxing got owned by wingchun. awesome.xD then sarah joanne and charis joined us for lunch before we headed for ziyan's condo.

at ziyan's condo.. (different ziyan from the one mentioned above xD) played pool.(: haha. tyco shots everywhere.. um.. not gona say anymore :/ anw i felt like jumping into the swimming pool but didn't bring swimwear. LOL. hm thanks ziyan for booking the function room for us!(: mm..

headed home but kinda took the wrong bus or something again.=.= blur me.. zz.

i got down the bus 2 stops early from my house last thursday =.= sian. then i walked home from there. damn stupid.=.=

8may, sat.
a whole day of music(: from tbone lesson to nycb alumni prac to hcband prac to SSO concert.. Russian Rhapsody:D random point: me and ziyan went esplanade library to borrow trio scores mwahaha(:
SHOSTAKOVICH 5TH SYMPHONY ♥♥♥♥♥!! gosh haha. the brasses were awesome.xD i'm officially crazy over the 4th movement.xD LOL. the concert was great!(: saw dr tan too:D haha. nvr heard the britten requiem before but it was quite cool. with the addition of a saxophone part and all(: really cool.xD the starting was the best. shannon pittaway's pedal D was like damn imba .__. first note of the piece and of the concert. xD haha! too bad aldwyn wasn't at the concert. lolol. the rachmaninov piano concerto was awesome too. the pianist was imba =.= as usual.xD rhapsody on a theme of paganini(:(:

let me post parts of the awesome program notes.xD haha!(:
Benjamin Britten - Sinfonia de Requiem, Op.20.
The first movement opens with violent timpani blows and menacing strokes from the double basses. This leads directly into a funeral march which gradually builds up in intensity before subsiding into a passage where various instruments proclaim the unsettling two-note figure of a tritone. The beating timpani reappears and maintains its menacing beat until, with a sustained note from the oboe, we move into the 2nd movement. Scampering figures from the strings accompanied by sudden lightning flashes from all sections of the orchestra create a grotesque dance of death. The saxophone reminds us of the 1st movement's tragic mood before the orchestra reverts to its wild dance....
Dmitri Shostakovich - Symphony No.5 in D minor, Op.47(:(:
Having had his opera Lady Macbeth of the Mtsensk District described in the influential newspaper Pravda as "utterly devoid of all political meaning. It titillates the perverted tastes of the bourgeoisie with its fidgeting, screaming, neurasthenic music", his 2nd and 3rd symphonies disastrously received, and the musicians themselves revolt against his 4th, Shostakovich was well aware that his entire future hung on the success of his Fifth Symphony. In the wake of Lady Macbeth, the Soviet authorities had laid down strict rules for all Soviet art: it had to have an accepted Soviet subject, musical language had to be "realistic" (in other words tuneful, conventionally harmonic and easily accessible to the untrained ear) and should be based on Russian folksong. To ensure Shostakovich had followed these rules in his Fifth Symphony, not only were several members of the cultural wing of the Supreme Soviet Committee going to attend the premiere, but Stalin himself had declared his intention of attending.
(okay i'm going to summarise .__.)
Stalin adored the Fifth Symphony at the premiere on 21Nov1937, and critics hailed it as a "true Soviet masterpiece". A journalist called the work "A Soviet Artist's Creative Reply to Just Criticism"... :D
The second movement, a parody of a Tchaikovsky Waltz, was seen by the Soviet audience in 1937 as representing industry and labour and "the joy the people feel as they work together to create their new society".
The third movement is a harrowing and emotionally charged memorial for the heroes of the Soviet Union, although the horrors of the Second World War and the Siege of Leningrad were still in the future..

okay now about today..
